My elevator (to the 4th floor NY apartment) is barely 27" wide and my kitchen door frame is barely 29" wide. My question: Are different models and different years of the Chambers differently sized in their width?? Has anybody tried to remove the knobs and both oven doors? Thanks for any input.

You can take the knobs and handles off fairly easy. If the stove has a vent in back that sticks out (like mine does), you might need to take the back off too. The knobs require a hex wrench, the oven/pantry handles just take a small flat screwdriver and the back a medium-sized flat screwdriver. I don't think you need to take the door panels off since it wouldn't buy you much. It will be tight, but I believe do-able, without too much effort. I think your bigger challenge will be to find a Chambers in NYC without having to sell a kidney to get it!!

i think the kitchen door is doable but not so sure about the elevator. agree with tura, good luck finding one local. but there was some recent ebay listings for parts in nyc. might try to follow that lead.
by the way, i dont believe the "mini" chambers currently on ebay is really a chambers. in fact id bet dollars to dounuts its an old tappan.

Thanks both of you for your reply. Are the different models differently sized? I saw a C90 for sale and a B series, I believe. Heike

The B's and C's are the same depth. I think, in your case, it might be more a matter of what era appeals to you. The B's are 1940's, the C's are 1950's.
